Selecting any memorial is a very private and personal matter in which we, as Professional Stone Masons, respectively offer our help and advice throughout this difficult time. Somerville Stone pride ourselves on quality not just in the production of our memorial monuments but also in the service we provide to our customers.  We use a range of traditional skills and modern technology to produce bespoke head stones and cremation memorials of the best quality.

When you decide to choose a memorial please take into consideration that different cemeteries and churchyards will have different rules and regulations regarding shape, size, material and style. Our expert specialist knowledge of grave headstones and memorial headstones together with our vast memorial experience will guide you throughout the selection of a memorial deemed acceptable to the cemetery or churchyard you are dealing with.

You may want a memorial headstone with a special bespoke design or perhaps an inscription carved in a certain style of font with a specific finish. This is not a problem for us and we provide a layout proof which allows you to see the proposed layout for approval before any work is carried out.

Types of Memorials

There are  three types of memorial commonly used in the UK as follows:

Church and Marble Memorials – These are the most commonly used style of lawn memorial and are generally referred to as Headstone & Base sets.

Traditional Memorials – This type of memorial is widely used in older cemeteries and is mostly referred to as a kerb set.

Flat Memorials – This style of memorial lies flat in the ground.
